About the Shoppe
Ojala Threads is for ancestors and descendants. Unique designs inspired by Taino identity are applied to contemporary items, helping us reintroduce you, to you. Our flagship item is the baby bodysuit. Hand printed in the South Bronx using non- toxic water-based ink, our baby onesies are wrapped with a poem written by our founder. We also offer cositas for all members of the family such as our Atabey Velon and seasonal items. As a social enterprise we prioritizes doing good. We empower the communities we support and our customers to make sustainable change. Our sales support community advocacy efforts in the South Bronx focused on public housing, public transportation and criminal justice reform. I am currently leading the Save Section 9 campaign which aims to keep public housing public. Customers are able to support the construction of the much needed Bronx Children's Museum by making a donation at checkout. Additionally we are raising funds to support farmers in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic as they rehabilitate a sacred Taino cave system. Their goal is to create an ecotourism destination bringing much needed jobs to the community of Mana.
